Coils

Post by gabo »

Hi all!

First of all sorry for my english im using just translator and small knowledge of english from school :)

I want to make sure im doing thinks right with my s40 so i try to ask about it here.

My biggest problem is coil settings because i dont understand DTA manual correctly
im using coil module attachment below type .

It is an amplyfied type of coil so i need to select in general engine settings distributor fitted - no and at bottom select check box External coil amps?

When i make this a warning come said : Do not turn this on with an un-amplyfied coil connected, severe damage to the ECU can result

it means when i turn it on and i have a standard coil connected i damage the ECU?

I think for ECU ist worst when i connect an amplyfied coil and dont turn it on in settings and ECU send to the coil transistor big current or not?

i dont want to demage my ECU so please help me.

Thanks!

Its mean wasted spark or not?

Amplified coils = check external coils amps.

How many pins are there on the coilpack ?

two stroke means for a two stroke engine. Not wasted spark.

Power connector.

Pin 1 = DTA S40 pin 3
Pin 3 = DTA S40 pin 6

It can only be wasted spark anyway. You do not need to select an option for this.

Thats great!
thank you!
Coils working now and also the rest of electrical part too...i hop when i finish the engine i have no issue to crank it.

New qestion.

it is possible to use lunch control without wheel sensors? i want just a rev limiter on 3500...nothing else, so it is enought to instal button and make settings?

Thanks!

You can do launch control via a switch and the timed delay.

But you have to manually hold this switch at launch, and let go when you want to go.

A very crude solution when they really do need to make it better.
