I have a proximity switch with the details -
Omron
TL-X2E1 -G
NPN NO
E1 -G
The diagram on it looks like this
Can anyone confirm that this will be OK for a launch control sensor ?
Launch control sensor - Is this one OK ?

What are you trying to do ?
Launch control is activated by a switch. It also requires an undriven wheel speed input. This need to be digital, ie hall effect, 3 wire.

these are general use if you have the space. ive seen some like you want to use on here, take a search on the forum for them.

I'm a bit confused - why / where do you use a proximity / movement sensor for launch control? Surely that is a switch to hold rpm to a pre-set whilst pedal is buried in the carpet? What happens after is traction control and then the above sensors come into play as wheel speed monitoring takes over?
Re: Launch control sensor - Is this one OK ?
This sensor monitors the non-driven wheel to asess the road speed. the ECU maintains the set rev-limiter until a preset speed is reached or until a set amount of time has lapsed.

most commonly used is the GT101 sensor.
But any similar hall effect sensor will do. Not actually sure the one you listed falls into that category

Re: Launch control sensor - Is this one OK ?
The only reason I ask about this sensor is because I already have one

then just test it.biffco wrote:The only reason I ask about this sensor is because I already have one
Is it a 3 wire hall effect sensor ? If so, then yes it will be suitable.
Re: Launch control sensor - Is this one OK ?
The above sensor is a Proximity sensor - Are they the same / similar ?
Either way, if I am to use the above http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/magnetic- ... -_-2355706 do I need to use a resistor ? If so what rating and connected to which wire ?

Again, explain exactly what you are trying to achieve ?biffco wrote:The above sensor is a Proximity sensor - Are they the same / similar ?

Are you looking to use this for a wheel speed sensor ?
If so, it needs to be 3 wire hall effect, and the wiring diagram will clearly be labelled for undriven wheel speed input.
