Hi all, Im pretty new to using stand alone management so hope this is not a daft question. ive just bought a Mx5 mk1 that somebody has put on jenvey itbs with DTA s40 management. It does not run though. apparently it was running a year ago but has been stood since and now wont start, whilst checking everything through i was surprised not to find a MAP sensor. the only feedback the ecu seems to get is from the TPS and CPS and water temp. is this enough feedback for the car to work correctly and perform well? How does the ecu work out the load the engine is under to work out the ignition advance and fueling etc? any guidance appreciated.
Dave

You will use TPS vs RPM for load calculation, and temp etc
For a n/a setup you dont need a map sensor. Only time it may be useful, is for use as a baro sensor, if you expected to see big changes in atmospheric pressure. ie you travel over a wide range of altitudes.
Really not an issue in the UK.

Ok great. Thanks for that. That keeps things simple then.
