befor now i have used Bosch ignition Module 0227 100 203 they will switch about 8A per channel

that will sink 40A
depends on what your fans will draw, but that size of SSR will go up to about 100A if you get the correct ones

Why don't you just run a relay and switch them on/off... PWM is nice, but if it's too much effort/time/money you could always do that.

with an earlier model rover i have tried that. the older ones (although probably bigger/less efficient) could easily blow a 30amp fuse with a direct start up.
rover's solution was to have them run in series at start up and then switch to parallel at a higher temp. if i have to, i will do that.

Understandable, I have had to fit large fuses before as startup current is kinda high in large fans.
