Getting back to this.
After several years bolted to the engine...I tried again.
Firstly with a power probe...at first nothing. Then after applying voltage several times, hitting it a bit it started to click.
So tried it with the engine running. And yes it appears to work fine. Does seem to need a rather duty cycle to make a difference though. Although mine is a large V8.
Mine takes about 65% duty to raise rpm by about 150 rpm for a cold idle then I hve it basically at 0 for a hot idle.
So it seems they can and do work ! Ive the valve set at 200Hz...no idea if that's correct or not.

Re: Idle valve giving me trouble
I do have one, and it works as it should on the dta numbers. but it seems too small!
probably more to do with where its positioned, but I think ill try a bigger valve anyway.
