Bought some new coils off ebay. New set of 8 D514A, LS whatever. Not the ones with the heat sink, these seem impossible to get now, or at least very difficult.
No idea if current draw has any direct relation to actual coil output...but seems logical to think it should.
The new coils under test mode seem to be drawing around 8A each. All would be well except two of the damn coils dont work.
They were sold as genuine GM takeoffs, but there are no GM part numbers anywhere, and the coils dont look the same as other images Ive seen of genuine GM parts.
Not amused. Now either need 2 replacements, or a new set of 8...as who knows how long the rest will last.
But I think promising to see that the new coils do draw substantially more current than the old LS1 coils.
LS1 LS2 LS6 etc series coils
