Shift Cut ignition retard

Post by Sven91 »

Hi I use dta S40 with beckert FWD sequential gearbox and Gearpotentiometer.

At the Moment I Start the Cut with Switch (sqs microswitch) and Finish it with the Poti, but I have the feeling that the gear doesn't come out well.

I read about the Button " use ignition retard Not Cut". What is the Advantage of this Version? Is it maybe better?

And my other question is: can I use load cell triggering with dta S40?

Greats from Germany

Ignition Retard is kinder on the engine, use retard as a preference.
You might want to try pot to start and stop the cut dependant on how much slop there is in the selector barrel.
Sorry not sure about the load cell.
How and what operates the micro switch?

Here is the Link of the microswitch. I think it is a Low budget solution Like load cell. I can adjust how much Power i need when the microswitch cuts the ignition.

I Start the Cut with the microswitch and ends with gearpoti.

Do you think Start and end with Poti is the better Option?

Then I try ignition retard. Should I Start with 40 degrees?
Should i also Cut fuel during Gear change?

Thanks for the fast answer.

Yes 40 or 45 deg would be a good start.
I had to use pot to start and stop cut, this is the only option when you are using the S100 as a sequential gearbox controller, it works fine.
However there needs to be some rotation of the selector drum for the ecu to detect you are requesting an up shift, no idea what your gearbox is like.
Yes leave fuel on during cut.
Try it, its only setting changes.
