As Firmwares were burned onto the chips, they weren't really distributed out as far as I know.

Best chance might be someone who has one who can copy theirs to send over ?

Kind of figured as much. Too bad the dallas ram/rom is not socketed on the E48, could have tried swapping that and see If the new firmware would work with that on the old board as the cpu is the same.
I kind of like this little unit and the oldschool pcb. Its been a good long while when working with something else than smd components.
