Wheel speed signal and target shape

Hi everybody,

I'm working on the mounting of my wheel speed sensor and target and have some questions :?:

Can you confirm what is the best expected signal for accuracy between 1,2 and 3 ? and the best ratio traveled distance / tooth (or frequency) for launch control's PID according to your experience ?

Thanks for your help.

1 is best.
2 should be fine.
3 is most likely to cause issues, but it depends on actual duty percentage.

All 3 should work unless you make the tooth or gap too small to be read by the sensor.

It will be first in this case.

With a 16 teeh target it give me a sensor frequency from 0 to 175 Hz for first gear top speed. Is it fine for the launch control loop ?

thanks

Yes, that will be fine.

16 pulses per revolution is a pretty good resolution. I only have 6 which means the wheel has moved almost 300mm between pulses; It does work but more pulses would be better.

Thanks

I need to make some drawings now ;-)

I'm using twenty pulses/revolution, with front targets mounted inside the brake bells.

Nice idea. Thanks for sharing.

No problem with the brake disc temperature and the sensor ?

This is good info. I plan to get ABS struts from a newer model of my car and use that.
Gadgetman: Smart setup :)
