MSD coil pack

Good evening,
Trying to get the engine fired up for the first time and its not playing ball... Double checking wiring to injectors and MSD Blaster coils pack. However I cannot find anything regarding the Ford type coil pack. it fires cyl 1 and 4, and 2 and 3.

On my P8 I have wired them as follows
Pin 1 (coil 1) - to fire cylinders 1 and 4
Pin 38 (coil 3) - to fire cylinders 2 and 3 (wondering if this maybe should be to Pin 20 (coil 2) ?

Am I correct in thinking these are wasted spark coils as they fire on 2 cylinders, presumably on the firing as well as exhaust stroke
Be grateful of any pointers

Thank you

Yes you need to use coil 2 for cylinders 2&3
Is it sparking in test mode?
Is the ecu seeing rpm and synchronizing?

I would add that there are 2 flywheel modes, for my k series I had to select vvc which it isn't!

It might spark in test mode even with wrong output pins, as it fires all outputs.

But outputs 1 and 2 make more sense.

Hi both, and thank you again.
Yes it is firing all pugs in test mode, its a shame that they do not start slower so you can visualise firing order.
Just checking the wiring now. It popped and banged and almost went yesterday, just not quite.
Interesting that you had to use the vvc settings, mine is a flywheel mode 2 and have used 96 deg BBDC fr the sensor position, just checking wiring now as may have incorrectly labelled my drawing.....

In test mode it just fires all at once, I use flywheel mode 21 at 292deg but I may have the plugs muddled up so take 180 off that. This on s series

Thanks Rob,
I have changed it to
Pin 1 (coil 1) - to fire cylinders 1 and 4
Pin 20 (coil 2) - to fire cylinders 2 and 3

Still not happening...just popping on one or two cylinders..... will try the above

Now i'm really confused,,,,,(Not difficult)
Feel I tried everything today as still no luck, checked rest of wiring to injectors etc, all fine. Noticed that I could see flashes of combustion through the throttle bodies... so removed cover and counted flywheel teeth in case that was wrong and is indeed a type 2.Have tried several degrees before TDC for flywheel sensor.
As a a result and doubting myself if the cam timing is correct, as though occurred to me that the cam timing could be 180 deg out as I swapped from original cam pulleys to Verniers and may have marked up the pulleys incorrectly, however when building the engine up and timing up up with dial gauges it seemed ok, (But if so if the coils fire on both then must be 180 degrees opposing? so shouldn't matter I guess, however i have now confused myself to distraction as have spent all afternoon trying to fathom it out.

If anyone has experience with timing a K series up from scratch would be great if you could get in touch

Thanks

Is it sycronizing in the diagnostic screen?

Flywheel mode to sensor angle should be 286. Try that first, as you're either 10 degrees out, or 190 degrees out.
