Hello everyone,
I tried to make a 1 tooth cam sensor with a Bosch Hall effect distibutor. I welded the centrifugal system, removed 3 of the 4 rotor wings. I wired the dist like this:
-Red: 12V
-Green: pin 23 cam sensor Hall effect
-Black: Sensor ground
I'm not sure it is correct because I get only 7V between red and black and I presume the sensor needs 12V to work.
Any inputs?

Re: Bosch Hall distributor to a cam sensor
And what power supply did the sensor have before ?
And same wiring pinout ? ie are you sure what you have done is correct ?
Does the reading change as the tooth passes ?

Re: Bosch Hall distributor to a cam sensor
I had time to check the voltage supply on a stock ignition harness, the sensor is powered with 12V. If I change the wiring to:
-Red: 12V
-Green: pin 23 cam sensor Hall effect
-Black: Ground
Will it cause problems to the ECU?

Re: Bosch Hall distributor to a cam sensor
Change ? That's also how you said you wired it in the first post ?
ECU wont mind if it's a 12v sensor or 5v. Equally many sensors will be quite happy with a 5 or 12v supply too.

Re: Bosch Hall distributor to a cam sensor
The sensor sees only 7V between 12V and sensor ground, if I change the wiring the sensor will see 12V but I wonder if it will cause some problems to the ECU.

Re: Bosch Hall distributor to a cam sensor
That makes no sense.
You're either giving it 12v or 5v. At no point does the sensor see 7v. Between 12v and ground, there can only be 12v.
What does the scope trace show ?

The ECU is fine with a 12v signal.
