Rev Counter not working

Post by raymonddfz »

I fired up my Vauxhall XE the other day and the rev counter on the dash didn't want to work. I have checked for a break in the wire from the ECU to dash and all OK. A strange suggestion but the last time I was connected to the ECU, I was setting up the flat shift checking the gear voltages etc and I wondered if I might of switched off the rev counter feed somehow by mistake? I dont start the car very much at the moment due to no events so I cant remember if the rev counter was working after I have done this.
Looking at the back up copy of the map, I did notice that the ‘blip on downshift’ box was ticked,(Which at the Moment I don't have, winter project) And as this appears to require a signal from one of the aux outputs that comes from the same pin as the rev counter, would this be the problem?

As always any help or suggestions will be welcome
The ECU is
S40

There are a few maps that have this issue.

To fix it, download the map off the ECU, and save it to your PC.
Open the software in offline mode, and select S80 (NOT S40).
Open the map you've just downloaded.
Go to flat shift settings and turn on Throttle Blip on Downshift Enabled. Press F4.
Then untick that, and Press F4.
Save the map.
Then connect to the ECU and upload it.

Hi Alex, That appeared to do the trick thank you.

That does just make me ask, how will i set it up if i connect a throttle blip in future?

There is no throttle blip functionality on the S40

That’s a shame, although I am sure I read it in the manual.

Is there any other way of picking up a throttle blip feed.?
