Hi all, can anyone confirm the pinouts for the 4 pin connector that goes on the VAG active COP coils used on Audis, VW's etc Bosch 0-221-604-115
I have:
1 +12V supply
2 Gnd to cylinder head
3 input signal
4 Gnd
I'd just like to confirm this is correct.
Cheers,
Martin

Re: VAG 4 pin coil connector pinouts
If they are the Audi coils, then this is what you need:
Pin 1 = 12V
Pin 2 = PGND
Pin 3 = Signal
Pin 4 = Local GND
The Beru coils used by Porsche with the same connector are different.

Hello,
I allow myself to become embedded in the subject
what exactly is pin 2 = PGND ? where do I have to wire it ?
Thank you for your help

Re: VAG 4 pin coil connector pinouts
I think it means “power ground”. I connected the2 grounds together and grounded them tothecylinder head, seems to work ok.

Re: VAG 4 pin coil connector pinouts
Power ground would go to the head.
Often the other ground should be referenced to the same ground as the ecu trigger....ie sensor ground.

Re: VAG 4 pin coil connector pinouts
Pin 2 should have the same ground source as the ECU.
Pin 4 should be grounded to the head.
If the ECU is grounded to the head as it should be, then pins 2 and 4 can be grounded to the cylinder head directly.

Re: VAG 4 pin coil connector pinouts
The ecu is grounded directly to the chassis with 18awg wires only 250mm in length, 8mm tag & bolt, clean metal no paint. The coils are grounded to the cylinder head, the engine block has a proper chassis earth lead. The sparks on the coils look very healthy during cranking with the plugs on the cam cover. During cranking the spark pattern on the plugs looks regular.
